ATHENS, Ohio -- Highlighting this week in Ohio athletics is both basketball teams tipping off their regular season, while the football hits the road for another week of MACtion. That, and much more, in this week's edition of Paw Prints.
FOOTBALL
November 9 / at Eastern Michigan / Ypsilanti, Mich. / Rynearson Stadium / 8 p.m. ET
The Bobcats are back in action for after knocking off MAC rival, Miami, last Tuesday (Nov. 2) by a score of 35-33 in Peden Stadium. Ohio (2-7, 2-3) will travel to Eastern Michigan (6-3, 3-2) for another MACtion matchup this Tuesday (Nov. 9). Kickoff is set for 8:00 p.m. at Rynearson Stadium. The game can be seen on ESPN2 where Matt Shepard and Rob Rubick will have the call.
WOMEN'S BASKETBALL
November 9 / at Notre Dame / South Bend, Ind. / Purcell Pavilion / 7 p.m.
November 13 / at Liberty / Lynchburg, Va. / Vines Center / 7 p.m.
The Ohio women's basketball team opens their 2021-22 season on Tuesday night (Nov. 9) with a matchup against the Notre Dame Fighting Irish. The Bobcats travel to South Bend for a 7 p.m. tip off on Tuesday, with the game being broadcast on ACCNX.
This will be the third all-time meeting between the two programs. The Fighting Irish won the first meeting in 1996, (95-92), while the Bobcats evened up the series last season with an 86-85 upset. Last season's upset over the No. 22 Fighting Irish, gave the Bobcats their first win over a ranked team in the program's history.
Ohio will then travel to Lynchburg, Va. for another rematch of a non-conference game from last season. The Bobcats defeated the Flames 76-72 in late November of last year.
MEN'S BASKETBALL
November 9 / vs. Belmont / Athens, OH. / The Convocation Center / 7:00 p.m.
November 13 / at Cleveland State / Cleveland, OH. / Wolstein Center / 7:00 p.m.
The Ohio men's basketball team returned to action in front of more than 6,000 fans Saturday (Nov. 6), for an exhibition game against Capital University. The Bobcats defeated the Comets by a score of 92-66 in its first appearance since the 2020-21 season.
This week, Ohio will enter regular season play with a home game against Belmont on Tuesday night (Nov. 9) at 7 p.m. inside the Convo. The Bobcats will then travel to Cleveland for a matchup against Cleveland State Saturday (Nov. 13). Tipoff is scheduled for 7 p.m. inside the Wolstein Center.
CROSS COUNTRY
November 12 / NCAA Great Lakes Regional Championships / Evansville, IN /
The Ohio men's and women's cross-country teams will travel to Evansville, Indiana for the NCAA Great Lakes Regional Championships this Friday (Nov. 12). The Bobcats are coming off of strong finishes at the MAC Championships, the men finished fourth in the 8k and the women finished fifth in the 6k.
VOLLEYBALL
November 12 / vs. Bowling Green / Athens, OH. / The Convocation Center / 7 p.m.
November 13 / vs. Bowling Green / Athens, OH. / The Convocation Center / 2 p.m.
Ohio volleyball traveled to Miami (OH) over the weekend and picked up a pair of victories to extend their winning streak to four, helping them clinch a spot in the upcoming MAC Tournament. The Bobcats look to carry that momentum forward as they head back to Athens for their final home matches and Senior Day. Ohio will take on Bowling Green at 7 p.m. on Friday (Nov. 12) and at 2 p.m. on Saturday (Nov. 13).
