ATHENS, Ohio-- The Ohio field hockey team (6-11, 3-3 MAC) fell to Indiana, 3-0, Sunday afternoon at Pruitt Field.
The Bobcats held strong in the first half, holding the Hoosier scoreless. Ohio took four shots and defended seven from Indiana.
The Hoosiers got on the board in the third quarter when Yip van Wonderen beat goalkeeper
Macy Lotze on the right side of the net. Indiana added to its lead in under a minute when Meghan Dillon finished a rebounded shot off Lotze.
Lotze faced 20 shots with 14 on goal, making 11 saves including an incredible kick save in the fourth quarter. The Bobcats were outshot 20-9 by Indiana and took three shots on goal with multiple shots hitting the posts.
"It's the end of the season, it's details defensively and it's details on the attack," head coach
Ali Johnstone said. "Just making sure that shots are on cage and not wide. You can't win games if you miss the net."
Indiana scored the final goal of the game in the 55
th minute from Hailey Crouch, assisted by Kira Curland.
The Bobcats will play their regular-season finale on Saturday, Oct. 30 at 1 p.m. against Longwood at Pruitt Field. Ohio is looking to win to secure a spot at the upcoming MAC Tournament hosted by Miami.
