Adamovsky Named MAC Player of the Year

BOWLING GREEN, Ohio ? For the third-straight season, a Bobcat has been named the Mid-American Conference Volleyball Player of the Year with setter Briana Adamovsky earning this year?s award, the league has announced.
Adamovsky, a senior from Solon, Ohio, led the league in assists for the second year in a row and has been the focal point of the 10th ?best hitting team in the nation. With 4,482 assists in her four-year career, she is the active leader among all players in the MAC. On Nov. 3 at Northern Illinois, Adamvosky broke Ohio?s all-time assist record and came into the season already holding school records in season assists per game, career assists per game, and assists in a season.
The 2004 season has been a highlight campaign for Adamovsky. The setter ranks 6th in the nation with 14.02 assists per game and has racked up 50 or more assists in eight matches this season, six of which came in only three games. She was named MVP at the Furman Invitational with 119 assists and followed that with an all-tournament performance at the Colorado State Classic, averaging 13.5 assist per game.
The MAC Player of the Year award is not the first accolade for Adamovsky this season. On Wednesday she was named to the All-MAC First Team for the second year in a row and has been honored three times this season as the MAC East Division Player of the Week. On Nov. 10, Adamovsky?s exploits were recognized nation-wide as she was named Collegiate Volleyball Update National Player of the Week.
The third Ohio player in a row to win MAC Player of the Year honors, Adamovsky joins Laura Hageman as the only two Bobcats to win the award. Hageman was honored by the league following both the 2002 and 2003 seasons.
Adamovsky and the Bobcats will begin their MAC Tournament title defense tonight against Kent State in the quarterfinal round. Match time is set for 7:30 p.m., in Bowling Green.
