    HUNTINGTON, W.Va. ? Marshall turned fumbles on Ohio's first two possession into 14 points and then added another first-quarter touchdown en route to a 28-0 victory over the Bobcats in the Battle for the Bell Friday afternoon.

    Ohio (2-10, 1-7) rushed for only 101 yards and gained only 153 yards total for the afternoon. The Bobcats failed to convert its two scoring chances on the afternoon, missing a 40-yard field goal and failing on fourth-and-goal at the Marshall 3.

    John Taylor led the team in rushing with 28 yards on four carries, while Brad Young added 22 yards on five attempts. Austen Everson completed three of his 10 pass attempts for 44 yards.

    Butchie Wallace ran for 108 yards and a touchdown to lead Marshall (8-4, 6-2 MAC). Graham Gochneaur completed 6-of-12 pass attempts for 114 yards with a touchdown.

    Earl Charles gained the most yardage in the game for the Thundering Herd as he rumbled for 115 yards on 23 carries.

    The Thundering Herd dominated the first half as they racked up all 28 of their points. Gochneaur scored on a three-yard scamper near the start of the game, giving Marshall a 7-0 advantage.

    Jonathan Goddard then scored on a 40-yard fumble return minutes later and Wallace found the end zone on a one-yard run to give Marshall a 21-0 lead late in the first quarter.

    Gochneaur threw a 10-yard scoring strike to Darius Watts with 6:33 remaining in the second period, giving the Thundering Herd the 28-0 halftime lead.

    Neither team was able to score in the second half as Marshall protected its lead.

    Marshall had 409 total yards of offense in the game, while holding the Bobcats to just 153 total yards and only 52 yards passing.

    The Bobcats' offense was stymied for the entire game as it mustered just eight first downs in the contest.
