ATHENS, Ohio -- The Ohio track & field team will host the annual Cherry Blossom Invitational on Saturday (April 6) at Goldsberry Track at Pruitt Field.
Action gets underway at noon ET, with student-athletes set to compete in the discus throw, javelin throw, long jump, hammer throw, high jump, pole vault, triple jump, shot put, 3000-meter steeplechase, 4x100-meter relay, 1500-meter run, 100-meter high hurdles, 400-meter dash, 100-meter dash, 800-meter run, 400-meter hurdles, 200-meter dash, 5000-meter run and 4x400-meter relay.
The Bobcats are set to honor their 2019 senior class as part of the Cherry Blossom Invitational. Among those seniors is Alyssa Atkinson (Granville, Ohio), who qualified for the 2018 NCAA East Regional in the 10,000-meter run last season.
The Cherry Blossom Invitational is one of two home outdoor meets that will be hosted by Ohio at Goldsberry Track at Pruitt Field this spring. The other is the Ohio Open, which is set for April 27.
Next up on the schedule for the track & field team after the Cherry Blossom Invitational is the Charlotte Invitational, which will take place April 12-13 in Charlotte, N.C.
