Buffalo, N.Y – Ohio track and field concluded the final day of the 2018 Mid-American Conference Outdoor Track & Field Championships in 12th place with a three-day total of 29 points scored. Over the meet, the Bobcats secured a total of nine top-eight finishes.
With a total of 136.5 points, Akron has secured the 2018 Outdoor Conference title.
Senior Emma Ryan (Vincent, Ohio) earned a sixth-place finish in the javelin throw with a best throw of 47.18m. Junior Gaza Odunaiya (Athens, Ohio) also competed and finished in 14th with a throw reaching 41.18m.
In the 4x100m relay, Ohio's team of junior Thelma Agyekum (Delaware, Ohio), senior Anna Michael (Lebanon, Ohio), senior Mya Hodge (Dublin, Ohio), and freshman Abby Summers (Powell, Ohio) recorded a time of 50.19 to place ninth.
Junior Emily Deering (Geneva, Ohio) earned a spot on the podium after her performance in the 800m dash finals where she clocked in a time of 2:10.86 to place fifth overall.
In the last event of the weekend, Ohio's 4x400m relay team of sophomore Marissa Handel (Highland Heights, Ohio), freshman Melissa Barrett (Englewood, Ohio), senior Kaitlyn Logan (Granville, Ohio), and Deering placed 12th with a final time of 3:53.07.
