Raleigh, N.C. – The Ohio track and field team wrapped up a weekend competing at the Raleigh Relays and the Oliver Nikolof Open (Mar. 30-31).
Several Bobcats traveled to Raleigh, N.C. to face host, N.C. State as well as numerous of the highest-ranked track and field teams from around the country. The Bobcats held their own by securing several top-20 finishes throughout the weekend.
The weekend's running events started with the 100m dash with junior Thelma Agyekum (Delaware, Ohio) posted a time of 12.97, freshman Abby Summers (Powell, Ohio) posted a time of 13.00, and junior Courtney Guiley (Louisville, Ohio) posted a time of 13.04.
In the 400m, sophomore Marissa Handel (Highland Heights, Ohio) clocked in a time of 58.16 while senior Kaitlyn Logan (Granville, Ohio) recorded a time of 1:00.82, sophomore Tajah Haley (Washington, Pa.) recorded a time of 1:03.39, and senior Anna Michael (Lebanon, Ohio) recorded a time of 1:05.26.
In the 5K, freshman Hailey Bowes (Arlington Heights, Ill.) posted a time of 18:03.31.
Senior Mya Hodge (Dublin, Ohio) placed 14th overall in the 100m hurdles with a time of 14.74.
The second day's running events opened with the 800m where junior Emily Deering (Geneva, Ohio) placed 14th overall with a time of 2:12.83.
Ohio's 4x100m relay team consisting of Guiley, Agyekum, Summers, and Hodge placed 14th with a time of 49.39.
The 4x200m relay team of Agyekum, sophomore Olivia Brewer (Mount Gilead, Ohio), Hodge, and Summers then went on to place eighth with a final time of 1:43.46.
In the 4x400m, the Bobcat team of Handel, Logan, freshman Melissa Barrett (Englewood, Ohio), and Deering posted a time of 3:55.20 to place 18th.
In the final relay of the weekend, Ohio's 4x1500m relay team of junior Josie Woosley (Pataskala, Ohio), Bowes, sophomore Tiffany Hill (Dublin, Ohio), and sophomore Melissa Koziol (Burton, Ohio) recorded a fifth-place finish with a final time of 19:12.33.
In the long jump, Michael placed in the top-30 with a jump reaching 5.04m.
Senior Jordan Porter (South Point, Ohio) placed fifth overall in the shot put with a throw of 15.18m. Next, for the 'Cats was freshman Abby Moore (Rootstown, Ohio) recorded a throw of 13.43m to place 18th and Haley with a throw of 11.27m to place 34th.
Senior Emma Ryan (Vincent, Ohio) placed 11th in the discus after recorded a throw of 45.07m ahead of junior Gaza Odunaiya (Athens, Ohio) in 14th with a throw of 43.27m and senior Cassidy Cleland (Reedsville, Ohio) in 29th with a throw of 37.06m.
In the hammer throw, Ryan placed 16th overall with a throw of 49.43m. Moore and Cleland both placed in the top-30 with throws reaching 48.01m and 46.64m, respectively.
Ryan then went on to add a 10th-place finishing in the javelin where she recorded a throw of 41.48m. Haley also competed in the javelin where she threw a 37.18m to place 25th.

Senior Tana Barrett (Newark, Ohio) kicked off the competition competing in the 200m dash where she clocked a time of 28.46.
In the 800m, junior Rebekah Markovitz (Columbia, Md.) placed in the top-25 with a final time of 2:34.57.
In the 1500m, freshman Tate Dawson (Doylestown, Pa.) and senior Christina Seas (West Union, Ohio) finished back-to-back with times of 5:00.31 and 5:01.53 to place in the top-20. Freshman Meredith Elstun (Fairfield, Ohio) and sophomore Emily Cass (Athens, Ohio) followed with times of 5:06.75 and 5:13.02, respectively.
Barrett also competed in the high jump where she finished seventh overall with a jump of 1.62m. Sophomore Atiya Spaulding (Chesapeake, Ohio) placed next for Ohio with a jump of 1.59m just ahead of freshman Jessica Leichty at 1.57m.
The Bobcats will next compete at the first home meet of the season where the Bobcats will recognize this year's graduating class. The Ohio Cherry Blossom Invitational will take place April 7 and serve as Senior Day with action starting at 11:30 a.m.
