ATHENS, Ohio - Ohio swim and dive's junior Corrin Van Lanen has been named Mid-American Conference Swimmer/Diver of the week for helping the Bobcats go 1-1 last weekend (Jan. 26-27) against Marshall and Bowling Green by winning seven events and placing second in one.
The Bobcats fell to the Thundering Herd in a nail-biting 151.5 – 147.5 and beat the Falcons 169.5 – 130.5.
Van Lanen (Green Bay, Wis.) kicked off the weekend against the Thundering Herd winning the 100 free with a time of 51.60, the 100 fly with a time of 56.36 and the 100 back with a time of 57.28. She finished the evening with a second-place finish in the 200 medley relay. The next afternoon, she won four-straight events to help take down the Falcons including the 50 free (23.82), the 100 back (57.81), the 100 fly (55.90), and the 200 medley relay (1:44.88).
The junior was also named MAC Swimmer/Diver of the Week for the week of Oct. 26 for her performance against the Youngstown State Penguins (Oct. 21).
Van Lanen and the Bobcats return to action when they host the MAC Championships in the Ohio University Aquatic Center. The meet will take place Wednesday, Feb. 21 through Saturday, Feb. 24.
