As part of the mission of Ohio University Intercollegiate Athletics to celebrate the achievements of our students both in the classroom and on the field of play, OhioBobcats.com will honor the successes of both a male and female student-athlete with 'Ohio Scholar-Athletes of the Week.'

OHIO SCHOLAR-ATHLETES OF THE WEEK -- FEB. 13, 2017

MALE SCHOLAR-ATHLETE OF THE WEEK
Name: Cameron Kelly
Sport: Wrestling
Position: 133 pounds
Year: Sophomore
GPA: 3.025
Major: Health Services Administration
Week's Achievements: Sophomore 133-pounder Cameron Kelly (Bellbrook, Ohio) dominated both of his opponents this weekend for the Ohio wrestling team (7-7, 4-4 MAC). Kelly's first match on Friday (Feb. 10) came to a halt halfway through the second period as he defeated Old Dominion redshirt freshman Alex Madrigal by technical fall, 17-1. Kelly carried over his dominance into Sunday's (Feb. 12) match at Gardner-Webb as he ended his match with just four ticks remaining in the second period as he defeated junior Philip Anderson, 22-3, by technical fall for his second victory of the weekend.

FEMALE SCHOLAR-ATHLETE OF THE WEEK
Name: MacKenzie Brunswick
Sport: Softball
Position: Infielder
Year: Sophomore
GPA: 3.286
Major: Bio Pre-Professional
Week's Achievements: Sophomore infielder MacKenzie Brunswick (Bellefontaine, Ohio) opened the 2017 season with a bang for the Ohio softball team. She went 6-for-11 to hit .545 on the weekend while slugging 1.000 and helping lead the Bobcats to a 4-1 start at the Carolina Classic. She registered two doubles and a home run and tallied four RBIs and two runs scored. She also grabbed a total of 11 bases and registered three putouts while not recording an error. Brunswisck opened the year with her best game of her career against Longwood last Friday (Feb. 10), going 3-for-3 with her first career home run, a double, a run scored and three RBIs in the 5-0 shutout win. She came back that evening to continue her big day, going 1-for-2 at the plate with a single against South Carolina. She also registered one putout in the field against the Gamecocks. The following day against Presbyterian, Brunswick went 1-for-2 at the plate with an RBI and a run scored and drew a walk as well in a 3-0 win for the Bobcats. In the final day of competition at the Carolina Classic, Brunswick when 1-for-2, with a double and an RBI. She also reached base on an error and was hit by a pitch in the 5-0 shutout victory.
