Ohio Wrestling Falls to Gardner-Webb, 24-12

BOILING SPRINGS, N.C. – The Ohio wrestling team (7-7, 4-4) dropped its final road match of the season in Boiling Spring, N.C., to Gardner-Webb, 24-12, on Sunday (Feb. 12) despite taking three of the first four matches, including earning bonus points in two of the matches.

125 – Hayden Lee v. Landon LoAlbo
Redshirt sophomore Hayden Lee (Marysville, Ohio) dominated Landon LoAlbo. Lee jumped to an early 5-0 lead in the first with a pair of takedowns and a point awarded for stalling. Lee continued the domination throughout the next two periods taking the opening match of the dual 13-0 by major decision.

133 – Cameron Kelly v. Philip Anderson
Sophomore Cameron Kelly (Bellbrook, Ohio) took his success from Friday into his match against Philip Anderson. After taking a 13-3 lead after the first period Kelly put Anderson away in the second ending the match technical fall (22-3).

141 – Kevon Powell v. Dallas Roemer
Redshirt senior Kevon Powell (Romeoville, Ill.) battled Dallas Roemer until the end of their match. Despite starting down 7-2 after the first period, Powell scored a takedown in the second to trail 7-4 heading into the final frame. However, the early deficit proved too much as Powell fell by an 8-6 decision.

149 – Noah Forrider v. Joby Armenta
Redshirt junior Noah Forrider (Marysville, Ohio) wrestled in the 149-class for the first time this season. Despite jumping up in class, Forrider landed a takedown in all three periods as he came away victorious by a 9-5 decision.

157 – Cullen Cummings v. Ryan Mosely
Redshirt junior Cullen Cummings (Woodridge, Ill.) trailed Mosley 3-1 after the first two periods of play. Cummings scored a takedown in the final period, but Mosely answered with an escape and takedown of his own to take the match by a 6-3 decision.

165 – Austin Reese v. Tyler Marinelli
Redshirt sophomore Austin Reese (Urbana, Ohio) and Tyler Marinelli wrestled a close match. Marinelli lead 1-0 after the first two periods after scoring an escape from starting down in the second. Reese would score an escape of his own in the third period, however, Marinelli scored a takedown to take the match by a 3-1 decision.

174 – Arsen Ashughyan v. Austin Trott
Redshirt sophomore Arsen Ashughyan (Vanadzor, Armenia) fell to Trott by a 5-2 decision.

184 – Dontae McGee v. Hunter Gamble
Redshirt freshman Dontae McGee (Marion, Ohio) trailed just 2-0 after the first period, but Gamble would go on to take the match by a 13-0 major decision.

197 – Bailey Faust v. Kyle Ash
Redshirt freshman Bailey Faust (Lexington, Ohio) led Ash 2-0 after the first period. However, Ash would outscore Faust 5-2 over the final two frames as Faust fell to Ash by a 5-4 decision.

285 – Devin King v. Boyce Cornwell
Redshirt sophomore Devin King (Thornville, Ohio) trailed Cornwell 6-0 after the first as Cornwell earned the victory by technical fall nine seconds into the third period (15-0)
