YORKTOWN, Ind.– The Ohio women's golf team opened play at the 2018 Cardinal Classic, hosted by Ball State, at the 6,204-yard course at The Players Club in Yorktown, Ind. on Monday (Sept. 17). The Bobcats sit tied for 10th place after the first two rounds, after shooting a 310 in round one and then followed that up with a 311, giving them a two-round total of 621 (+45).
Leading the pack is the University of Indianapolis, who sits -2 after the first two rounds.
Leading the Bobcats is senior Nicole Smiley (Dublin, Ohio) who is tied for 13th place after day one. Smiley began the day with a 77, only to come back later in the afternoon to shoot a second-round score of 72, giving her a two-round total of 149 (+5).
Fellow senior Emily Hughes (Columbus, Ohio) is next, finishing Monday tied for 25th place after recording a 75 in round one, followed by a second-round score of 78, helping her finish the day +9 (153).
Freshman Catherine Loftus (Roswell, Ga.) finished Monday tied for 47th place. Loftus began the day with a 79 and then followed that up with a round of 78, helping her finish the day with a two-round total of 157 (+13). Junior Marissa Balish (Allison Park, Pa.) is next, finishing the day tied for 67th place. Balish opened the tournament with a 79 in the first round, before finishing the day with an 83, helping her finish the day +18 (162).
Rounding out the scoring Bobcats is senior Hannah Travis (Lancaster, Ohio), who finished Monday in 86th place. Travis began the day with an 87, before finishing her day on the course with a second-round score of 86, helping her finish the day with a two-round total of 173 (+29).
The Bobcats wrap up action at the 2018 Cardinal Classic on Tuesday, Sept. 18 with a shotgun start set to begin at 9 a.m.
