Ohio Women’s Golf Wraps Up Day One of Spring Break Shootout

DADE CITY, Fla. – The Ohio women's golf team returned to action on Monday in the first two rounds of the 2018 Spring Break Shootout hosted by FGCU and Western Kentucky at the Lake Jovita Golf Course. The Bobcats finished the first day of competition in 12th place after shooting a first round score of 308 and concluded the day with a second-round score of 314, giving Ohio a two-round total of 266 (+46).

WKU leads the pack after the first day with a two-round total of 590 (+14).

Leading Ohio is junior Emily Hughes (Columbus, Ohio) who finished the day tied in seventh place. Hughes opened play by shooting a 74 in the first round, she then returned to the course for the second round, shooting a 76 to conclude the day. Overall, Hughes finished Monday with a two-round score of 150 (+6).

Next for Ohio is sophomore Marissa Balish (Allison Park, Pa.), who finished the day tied for 32nd place. Balish wrapped up the first round with a score of 75, and concluded the day by shooting a second-round score of 81, finishing the day with a total score of 156 (+12).

Senior Lily Pendy (Grosse Pointe Farms, Mich.) began the day by shooting a first round score of 78. She then finished the day by recording a second-round score of 80, giving her a two-round total of 158 (+14), tying her for 48th place.  Junior Nicole Smiley (Dublin, Ohio) opened the day by shooting a first round score of 81. She came back in the afternoon to finish the day by registering an 80, giving her a two-round total of 161 (+17), tying her in 62nd place.

Junior Hannah Travis (Lancaster, Ohio) rounded out the scoring Bobcats, finishing the day tied for 73rd place. Travis began Monday by shooting an 88 and came back in the afternoon to improve her score by 10 strokes, scoring a 78 to give her a two-round total of 166 (+22).

Freshman Ashley Flynn (Dublin, Ohio) played unattached for the Bobcats, finishing the day tied for 77th place. Flynn began the day by shooting a score of 86 and finished the day with an 84, giving her a two-round total of 170 (+26). 

The Bobcats conclude play at the 2018 Spring Break Shootout on Tuesday, March 13 with a shotgun start scheduled for 8:30 a.m.
