STATE COLLEGE, Pa. – The Ohio women's golf team wrapped up day one of the Nittany Lion Invitational hosted by Penn State at the Penn State Golf Courses today. The Bobcats opened the first round with a 307 and followed that up with a second-round score of 311 for a two-round total of 618 (+42), which places them 11th.
Leading Ohio is junior Nicole Smiley (Dublin, Ohio) who is currently tied for 14th place after shooting a first-round total of 74 and followed that up with an afternoon round of 73 to finish Sunday with a two-round total of 147 (+3).
Next for Ohio is sophomore Marissa Balish (Allison Park, Pa.) who finished the first round with a 72 and then shot a second-round score of 79 for a day one total of 151 (+7). Balish currently sits tied for 32nd.
Junior Emily Hughes (Columbus, Ohio) is currently tied for 63rd after the first two rounds. Hughes opened up the completion by shooting a 78 and came back later in the day for a second-round total of 82 to finish the day +16 (160). Senior Lily Pendy (Grosse Point Farms, Mich.) is also tied for 63rd place, finishing the first round with an 83 and finished the day by shooting a second-round score of 77 for a two-round total of 160 (+16).
Rounding out the Bobcat's scoring five is freshman Amanda Hayes (Dayton, Ohio) who is currently in 82nd place after shooting a first-round score of 86 and then finishing the day with a second-round score of 84 for a first day total of 170 (+26).
The Bobcats return to action Sunday, Sept. 24 to wrap up the 2017 Nittany Lion Invitational with a 9 a.m. shotgun start.
