Akron, Ohio --The Ohio men's and women's cross country teams return home after competing in the All-Ohio Collegiate Championships in Akron, Ohio finishing in first and fourth places as a team. The women's team finished fourth overall as a team while the men finished first.
The Bobcat women had finished fourth place overall in the 6K with a score of 106 points. The fastest times were clocked in by senior Alyssa Atkinson (Granville, Ohio) with a time of 22:03.0 placing fourteenth overall. Atkinson was later followed by sophomore Hailey Bowes (Arlington Heights, Ill) with a time of 22:39.1. The next Bobcat to cross the line was junior Melissa Koziol (Burton, Ohio) with a time of 22:40.1. The remaining Bobcats, freshman Madelyn Bartolone (Massillon, Ohio) (22:51.6), sophomore Jessica Hartman (Lebanon, Ohio) (22:55.2), junior Abby Miller (Mansfield, Ohio) (22:59.0), and senior Emily Deering (Geneva, Ohio)(23:04.1).
The men finished first as team with an overall score of 37 points in the 8k race. The men were led by sophomore Josh Park (Amherst, Ohio) who finished first with a time of 24:14.9 followed closely by senior Kyle Bussard (Germantown, Ohio) in third with a time of 24:21.4 and red shirt sophomore Griffin Butler (Newark, Ohio) in eighth finishing with a time of 24:33.4. The remaining Bobcats senior Zach Zimmerman(Pickerington, Ohio) (25:09.3), sophomore John Jaynes(Canal Winchester, Ohio) (25:26.8), freshman Czar Tarr (Pittsburgh, Pa.) (25:57.5), junior Nate Mallue (Massillon, Ohio) (26:00.0).
The cross country teams will take another break before returning Friday Oct. 12 to compete in the Penn State National Open in State College, Pa. The first race will start at 10:45 a.m. est.
