CLEVELAND -- Ohio men's golf senior Ben Sattler (Liberty Township, Ohio) has been named the Mid-American Conference Co-Golfer of the Week, as announced by the league office on Friday (Oct. 12). He shares honors with Miami freshman Charlie Nikitas.
Sattler earns MAC Golfer the Week honors for the first time in his career. He becomes the second Bobcat to earn weekly conference honors in as many weeks, joining sophomore Zach Crawford (Vandalia, Ohio).
Sattler tied for eighth place with a 220 (+4) to lead the way for Ohio at the 2018 Health Plan Mountaineer Invitational at Pete Dye Golf Club in Bridgeport, W. Va., earlier this week. He followed up a first-round 76 (+4) on Monday (Oct. 8) with two rounds of 72 (E) on Tuesday (Oct. 9). Ohio finished in a tie for 12th place with Marshall with a combined team score of 926 (+62). The Bobcats combined to tally a 313 (+25) in the first round on Monday, then carded a 309 (+21) in the second round and a 304 (+16) in the third.
Ohio wraps up the fall portion of its 2018-19 schedule next week (Oct. 15-16) at the Phoenix Intercollegiate, which will be held at Alamance Country Club in Burlington, N.C.
