RICHMOND, Ky. -- The Ohio men's golf team recorded its best round score of the weekend with a final-round 287 (+7) today at the University Club at Arlington, giving the Bobcats a combined team score of 873 (+33) and a 10th-place finish at the EKU Intercollegiate sponsored by Raising Cane's.
The Bobcats shot identical scores of 293 (+13) in the first two rounds on Saturday (Sept. 15).
Sophomore Zach Crawford (Vandalia, Ohio) vaulted from a tie for 27th all the way up to seventh place thanks to a career-best 66 (-4) in the final round giving him a score of 210 (E). His 210 marked the best three-round score of his career, and he achieved a top-10 finish for the second time in his career. His final-round 66 tied for the third-best round score in program history. On Saturday, Crawford posted matching rounds of 72 (+2).
Sophomore Tanner Johnson (Venetia, Pa.) improved nine spots on the leaderboard, finishing in a tie for 40th with a career-best 220 (+10) after matching his career best with a final-round 72 (+2). He recorded rounds of 75 (+5) and 73 (+3) on Saturday.
Senior Ben Sattler (Liberty Township, Ohio) took 55th with a 222 (+12). He followed up rounds of 71 (+1) and 76 (+6) on Saturday with a 75 (+5) on Sunday.
Sophomore Austin Dyson (Dublin, Ohio) tied for 60th with a career-best 224 (+14). He shot a 74 (+4) in the final round after rounds of 75 (+5) and 72 (+2) on Saturday. His second-round score marked a career best.
Sophomore Zach Mandry (Solon, Ohio) finished in a tie for 67th with a career-best 226 (+16) after tallying identical rounds of 76 (+6) on Saturday and a final-round 74 (+4) on Sunday.
Eastern Michigan won the 54-hole event with an 838 (-2), taking the EKU Intercollegiate title by six strokes. The Eagles tallied round scores of 274 (-6), 283 (+3) and 281 (+1). Eastern Kentucky junior Billy Basham and SIU Edwardsville senior Kyle Slattery shared medalist honors with matching scores of 205 (-2).
Ohio will open October with a trip to Akron to compete in the Firestone Invitational (Oct. 1-2), which will be held at the Firestone North Course.
