FORT WAYNE, Ind. -- The Ohio men's golf team is in ninth place through two rounds of the 2018 Mid-American Conference Championships, which got underway on Friday (April 27) at Sycamore Hills Golf Club. The Bobcats combined to shoot a 327 (+39) in the first round and a 322 (+34) in the second, giving them a two-round total of 649 (+73).
Tournament host Ball State leads the pack with a 595 (+19) after notching round scores of 302 (+14) and 293 (+5). The Cardinals curently own a four-stroke lead on second-place Kent State.
Freshman Austin Dyson (Dublin, Ohio) is currently pacing Ohio with a 159 (+15), putting him in a three-way tie for 30th place. He carded rounds of 78 (+6) and 81 (+9).
Junior Ben Sattler (Liberty Township, Ohio) is tied for 36th with a 162 (+18) after tallying two rounds of 81 (+9).
Freshman Zach Crawford (Vandalia, Ohio) totaled a 163 (+19) on the tournament's opening day, tying him for 39th. He followed up a first-round 84 (+12) with a 79 (+7) in the second.
Redshirt senior Tom Nettles (McMurray, Pa.) is in 43rd place with a 165 (+21) following rounds of 84 (+12) and 81 (+9).
Redshirt junior David Yang (Huntersville, N.C.) is tied for 44th with a 169 (+25). He shot rounds of 87 (+15) and 82 (+10).
Ball State senior Michael VanDeventer is currently leading the field with a 141 (-3) after he compiled round scores of 70 (-2) and 71 (-1).
The third round of the 2018 MAC Championships is set to begin at 8 a.m. ET on Saturday (April 28).
