CLEVELAND -- Ohio men's basketball redshirt sophomore guard James Gollon (Stevens Point, Wis.) has been named to the 2017-18 Academic All-Mid-American Conference Team, as announced by the league office on Wednesday (April 4).

A total of 13 student-athletes were named to the team from this past season.

The Academic All-MAC honor is for a student-athlete who has excelled in athletics and academics. To qualify, a student-athlete must have at least a 3.20 cumulative GPA and have participated in at least 50 percent of the contests for that particular sport.

A biological sciences pre-medicine major with a 3.587 GPA, Gollon played in a career-high 31 games and made a career-high seven starts for the Bobcats in 2017-18, scoring a career-high 211 points (6.8 per game), grabbing a career-high 110 rebounds (3.5 per game), dishing out a career-high 40 assists (1.3 per game), swiping a career-high 31 steals (1.0 per game) and blocking a career-high five shots (0.2 per game) over a career-high 670 minutes (21.6 per game). He finished in double figures in points a career-high 10 times, scoring a career-high 17 points in an 84-65 win over Prairie View A&M on Dec. 20, 2017. Gollon hauled in a career-high eight rebounds in an 80-37 rout of Coppin State on Dec. 1, 2017. He also distributed a career-high four assists against Miami in a MAC Tournament First Round Game on March 5, 2018.
