2007 Field Hockey Wrap Up

ATHENS, Ohio - The 2007 college field hockey season proved to be one of the most historical ones in Ohio history. For the first time ever, the Bobcats captured back-to-back Mid-American Conference regular-season and tournament championships. The Bobcats also spent the entire season nationally ranked in the STX/NFHCA Division I National Coaches Poll.

For the first time in six years, the 'Cats made an appearance in the NCAA Tournament and goalkeeper Jessie Martin became only the third player in program history to be named MAC Player of the Year.

Also in 2007, the Bobcats:
- opened the season with a 2-1 upset over then No. 4 Duke.
- entered the STX/NFHCA Coaches Poll for the first time in six years at No. 10 on Sept. 4.
- swept weekly MAC awards on Aug. 28 (Albini & Martin), Sept. 11 (Albini & Martin) and Sept. 18 (Dull & Martin).
- were the No. 2 team in the NCAA rankings for penalty corners per game on Sept. 9.
- closed out the regular season home slate with a flawless 6-0 record.
- posted the best win record (18) in 25 years.

2007 Womensfieldhockey.com Acknowledgements
Torrie Albini was named to the womensfieldhockey.com All-American Third Team. Albini finished her Bobcat career as Ohio's second all-time leading scorer. She was selected NFHCA All-West Region Second Team for the second year in a row and was named to the All-MAC Second Team and the All-MAC Tournament Team.

Albini will represent Ohio and the Mid-American Conference in the 2007 NFHCA Senior All-Star Game on Nov. 17, a day before the NCAA championship game in College Park, Md.

MAC Standings
The Ohio Bobcats finished first in the MAC with a 9-1 conference record and earned the top seed in the MAC Tournament. The 'Cats ended the regular season leading the conference in shutouts, shots, goals scored, assists and penalty corners. They also finished third in defensive saves and fifth in saves.
