Ohio Football Announces 19 Signees In Early Signing Period

ATHENS, Ohio – Ohio head football coach Frank Solich announced 19 players who have signed during the 2018 early signing period Wednesday.

O'Shaan Allison | RB | 5-10 | 195 | Malvern, Pa. | Malvern Prep School 

Prior to Ohio: Racked up 1,004 rushing yards and 11 touchdowns as a senior at Malvern Prep High School while earning First Team All-Conference honors. No. 3 ranked running back in Pennsylvania after putting up 3,000 career rushing yards and 35 touchdowns. 

Personal: Son of Omar and Trina Allison. Born Sept. 25, 1999. Planning on majoring in education. Also had two letters in basketball.

Antrez Baker | DL | 6-3 | 235 | Indianapolis, Ind. | Brownsburg High School

Prior to Ohio: Had 52 total tackles with five sacks, an interception and four pass deflections as a senior at Brownsburg High School. Finished with 102 total tackles and 10 sacks during his career while also recording three receiving touchdowns at tight end. Two-time All-State and All-Conference while also being named to the Super Team and was D-Lineman of the Year. Served as team captain for two seasons. Had five letters in football.

Personal: Son of Dana Baker. Born Sept. 3, 1999. Also had five letters in basketball.

Cole Baker | DL | 6-3 | 275 | Pinson, Ala. | East Mississippi Community College

Prior to Ohio: Won a NJCAA National Championship with East Mississippi Community College in 2017 while earning Second Team All-State honors. Had 42 tackles, four sacks and nine tackles for loss in 2017. Recorded 12.5 sacks at Clay Chalkville High School. 

Personal: Son of Lisa and Don Baker. Born May 20, 1998. Plans on majoring in exercise science at Ohio.

Justin Birchette | CB | 5-11 | 175 | Palm Beach Gardens, Fla. | Dwyer High School

Prior to Ohio: Recorded 30 pass breakups, 50 tackles and six interceptions as a senior at Dwyer High School in Palm Beach Gardens, Fla. Was a member of the All-Star Team while leading his team to a No. 7 state of Florida ranking and No. 2 in 7A as a captain in 2017 with a 9-2 record.

Personal: Son of Karen and Anthony Birchette. Born May 4, 2000. Plans to major in exercise therapy at Ohio.

Zach Burks | DL| 6-2 | 290 | Olathe, Kan. | Coffeyville Community College 

Prior to Ohio: Played one season at Coffeyville Community college where he had 47 total tackles and eight tackles for loss. Played at Olathe North High School where he earned Second Team All-Conference honors and was recognized as one of the top 100 players in Kansas as a senior. 

Personal: Son of Alvin Burks. Born Dec. 8, 1997.  

Jamison Collier | S | 6-2 | 185 | Snellville, Ga. | Brookwood High School

Prior to Ohio: Had 96 tackles, five pass deflections and three interceptions as a senior at Brookwood High School. Named All-Region and All-Country following the 2017 season. Had 267 tackles, 18 pass deflections, four sacks, four interceptions during his career while also recording 30 receptions with six touchdowns. 

Personal: Son of James and Carmelita Collier. Born Dec. 4, 1999. Plans on majoring in sports management.

Kurt Danneker | OL | 6-3 | 330 | Linden, Pa. | Williamsport Area High School

Prior to Ohio: Played offensive and defensive line at Williamsport Area High School where he was named 2016 6A All-American and was named as a Blue-Grey All-American. Led his team to a 6A District Championship and a Conference Championship as a junior with a 12-2 record. Served as team captain for three seasons. 

Personal: Son of Dave and Sue Danneker. Born Jan 19, 2000. Plans to major in business at Ohio.

Patrick Gilliland | OL | 6-6 | 315 | Gahanna, Ohio | Bishop Hartley High School

Prior to Ohio: Played offensive line at Bishop Hartley High School where he earned All-State, All-Central District and All-Metro. Was nominated to play in the Ohio Coaches North/South All-Star game. Led his team to two state championships in Division 4 and was regional runner up his senior season. 

Personal: Son of Mary and Vince Gilliland. Born Dec. 21, 1999. Plans on majoring in sports management at Ohio.

Darfnell Gouin | WR | 6-2 | 205 | Fort Myers, Fla. | South Fort Myers High School 

Prior to Ohio: Had 215 career receiving yards on 15 catches with two toucdowns playing wide receiver at South Fort Myers High School. Also had 45 total tackles on defense, two pass breakups and two fumble recoveries. Was a Honorable Mention Scholar Athlete served as team captain his senior year. 

Personal: Son of Damien Naylor and Darien Naylor. Born June 9, 1998. Plans on majoring in exercise science at Ohio. Also had four letters in track and field.

John Gregory | CB | 6-2 | 190 | Indian Land, S.C. | Indian Land High School

Prior to Ohio: Played cornerback and wide receiver at Indian Land High School where he recorded 41 tackles, 14 pass breakups, five tackles for loss and a sack on defense and 713 receiving yards on 53 catches for seven touchdowns on offense. Named All-Conference and voted Tri-County Player of the Week and Best Defensive Back. Also was All-Region in track and field.

Personal: Son of James Sr. and Krisma Gregory. Born Nov. 12, 1999. Plans to major in psychology at Ohio. Also lettered four years in track and once in basketball.

Kylen McCracken | DL | 6-4 | 285 | Cleveland Heights, Ohio | Cleveland Heights High School

Prior to Ohio: Played offensive and defensive line at Cleveland Heights High School. Also wrestled and served as team captain for three seasons.

Personal: Son of Kimberly Geeter. Born Oct. 8, 1999. 

Jack McCrory | LB | 6-2 | 220 | Springfield, Ohio | Springfield Shawnee High School

Prior to Ohio: Racked up 101 tackles, one interception and two sacks as a LB at Springfield Shawnee High School his senior year. Finished his career with 252 total tackles, 15 touchdowns and two interceptions. Was named First Team All-State, All- Southwest District, All-Conference and Conference Defensive player of the year.

Personal: Son of Tony and Phyllis McCrory. Born March 9, 2000. Plans to study sociology and criminology at Ohio.

Joe Mischler | QB | 5-10 | 180 | Erie, Pa. | Cathedral Prep

Prior to Ohio: Passed for 3,255 yards and 38 touchdowns as a senior at Cathedral Prep High School. Also had six rushing touchdowns as a senior. Racked up 7,719 passing yards and 98 touchdowns during his high school career. Also rushed for 12 touchdowns and had a 60.2-percent completion percentage. Was a two-time state champion and was named PIAA AAAA Player of the Year twice while also being named All-State as a junior and senior. Recorded a 35-2 record as a started and is the District 10 all-time passing leader in yards and touchdowns. Led team to a 14-0 record as a senior and served as team captain for three seasons.

Personal: Son of Michael and Mary Mischler. Born July 29, 1999. Plans on majoring in business at Ohio.

Shane Hooks | WR | 6-4 | 175 | Orlando, Fla. | Olympia High School

Prior to Ohio: Played wide receiver at Olympia High School where he had 24 catches for 515 yards and seven touchdowns. Received three football letters during his career.

Personal: Son of Karen Mingo. Born July 15, 1999. Was named MVP of his high school basketball team as a junior. Also had two letters in basketball.

Bryce Houston  | LB | 6-0 | 215 | Lewis Center, Ohio | Olentangy Orange High School

Prior to Ohio: Had 81 tackles, seven sacks and two interceptions as a senior at Olentangy Orange High School. Named All-Metro and All-OCC Defensive Player of the Year while being named All-State, All-District and All Super 25 Team following leading his team to a 9-2 record his senior year. Also named All-State, All-OCC, All-Dsitrict and Super 25 Team as a junior. Also earned All-State honors as a wrestler in 2016 while also placing at the state meet. Racked up 215 tackles, 151 solo, with 10 sacks and two career interceptions during his high school campaign while also serving as a team captain for last two seasons.

Personal: Son of Tony and Dana Houston. Born June 16, 1999. Plans to major in economics at Ohio. Also had three letters in wrestling in high school.

Bryce Ramer | OL | 6-5 | 315 | | Beaver, Pa. | Beaver Area High School

Prior to Ohio: Only allowed one sack in three years at Beaver Area High School earning All-Section honors as an offense and defensive lineman. Named All-Conference for two years and named best of the batch and nominated for Mr. Pa. as a junior in 2016. Three star offensive and defensive tackle by scout.com. Led his team to second-round playoff berths and 10-3 records as a sophomore and senior. Named All-State following his senior year.

Personal: Son of Melissa and Ron Ramer. Born Feb. 29, 2000. Plans to major in exercise physiology at Ohio. Also earned two letters in baseball and two in basketball.

Bryce Stai | DL | 6-3 | 230 | Lincoln, Neb. | Norris High School 

Prior to Ohio: Played tight end, defensive end, wide receiver, long snapper and linebacker at Norris High School in Lincoln, Neb. Had 160 career tackles, 14 pass breakups, 13 sacks and three blocked kicks. Also had 434 career receiving yards and six touchdowns. Was named All-State Class B, All-State honorable mention, All-Conference, All-District and Super State Second Team.

Personal: Son of Jennifer and Brendan Stai. Born Nov. 24, 1999. Also lettered four years in track and field, two years in basketball and one year in wrestling. Plans to study broadcasting and journalism at Ohio.

Keye Thompson Jr. | LB | 6-0 | 205 | Akron, Ohio | Barberton High School

Prior to Ohio: recorded 144 tackles, four sacks, a forced fumble, a fumble recovery and 18 touchdowns during his senior year at Barberton High School. Named All-State and was a three-time Defensive Player of the Year. Led his team to a 12-1 record as a senior and a regional championship runner up. Served as a team captain for his junior and senior seasons.

Personal: Born April 22, 2000. Son of Tim and Shelby Robertson.
