ATHENS, Ohio — The Manning Award, sponsored by the Allstate Sugar Bowl, announced 11 additions to its 2017 Watch List today, included on the list was Ohio sophomore quarterback Nathan Rourke (Ontario, Canada).
Rourke has played in all six games, making four starts, this season for the Bobcats and has gone 82-135 for 973 yards passing with seven touchdowns. Rourke has also rushed 61 times for 297 yards and leads the MAC and ranks fourth in the MAC with nine rushing touchdowns. Rourke has rushed for 100-yards twice this season and has rushed for three touchdowns twice.
Rourke was named the MAC Player of the Week following his performance against Hampton and was named a Manning Award Star of the Week following his outing against Eastern Michigan.
The Manning Award was created by the Allstate Sugar Bowl in honor of the college football accomplishments of Archie, Peyton and Eli Manning. It is the only quarterback award that includes the candidates' bowl performances in its balloting.
After announcing 30 quarterbacks to watch during the preseason, the Manning Award opted to increase its focus players based on the many outstanding performances during the first half of the year. While these players have been added to the Watch List, every quarterback in the nation remains eligible to win the honor.
Ohio returns to action at Bowling Green at 3:30 p.m. Saturday.
