CLEVELAND -- Redshirt senior left-handed starting pitcher Gerry Salisbury (Brunswick, Ohio) has been named Mid-American Conference Pitcher of the Week while freshman infielder Aaron Levy (Cincinnati, Ohio) has been named MAC Player of the Week as Ohio baseball (14-12, 3-3 MAC) swept the conference's weekly awards, as announced by the league office on Monday (April 2).

Salisbury and Levy give the Bobcats their first two MAC weekly award honorees of the 2018 season. Both garnered MAC weekly conference honors for the first times in their careers. The duo helped the Bobcats take two of three games from Northern Illinois last weekend at Bob Wren Stadium as the Bobcats picked up their first MAC series win of the year.

Salisbury enjoyed the best outing of his Ohio career in game one of a Saturday (March 31) doubleheader against Northern Illinois, striking out a career-high 11 while giving up just one unearned run on four hits and no walks over seven strong innings to set the tone for a 6-1 victory for the Bobcats. He earned the victory on the mound to improve to 3-4 on the season. Salisbury became the first Ohio pitcher to record double-digit strikeouts this season. Through seven starts in 2018, he is tied for the team lead in wins and leads the Bobcats in both innings pitched (39.1) and strikeouts (32).

Levy put his power on display last week for Ohio, smashing a team-high three home runs and slugging a team-best .889. He also drove in a team-high eight runs, tied for second on the team with seven hits and ranked third on the squad with a .438 batting average. Levy smacked two home runs and tallied three RBIs in a 9-8 loss in 10 innings at Morehead State on Tuesday (March 27). He then went 2-for-4 with two runs scored as Ohio took game one of the Saturday twin bill from the Huskies. In the Sunday (April 1) rubber match, Levy smashed a three-run home run in the fourth inning and accounted for two hits and five RBIs total as the Bobcats topped Northern Illinois, 12-4, to secure their first MAC series win of the 2018 campaign. Levy has started 22 of the 25 games he's played in his rookie season, ranking eighth on the team with 22 hits -- including four home runs, which is tied for second on the squad. His .452 slugging percentage is good for fifth on the team, and he owns a .262 batting average and .340 on-base percentage. He also ranks fifth on the squad with 14 RBIs and second with 20 runs scored.

Ohio plays host to its first non-conference midweek home game of the 2018 campaign on Tuesday (April 3) when Shawnee State visits Bob Wren Stadium for a 6 p.m. ET matchup.
